Teach your Child Music: Suzuki method

I am personally not familiar with Suzuki method, but there are quite a lot of people who praise it quite extensively. However I know a few professional music teacher who are really disappointed with the results and often comment that they end up “reteaching” the kids afterwards.

This is an expert from the North American Chapter of the Suzuki Association:

"More than forty years ago, Suzuki realized the implications of the fact that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease. He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the mother-tongue approach. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, constant repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the Suzuki approach."

Erika Sears from TeachYourBabyToRead was very kind to share this information on their music classes for the little kids:

"Suzuki Early Childhood Education, a music class for 6mth to 3 year olds to prepare for musical instrument instruction under the Suzuki method. I understand from his books that Glenn Doman is a fan of Suzuki method (mother tongue method) as they share many ideals & love of children & encouragement of their potential. I certainly like the Suzuki approach of 'character first'. The teachers are enthusiastic & positive, never any criticism. They always notice the little things & compliment something about each turn – the way we teach reading, maths etc. There is up to 12 children in each class & they also learn by watching each other take turns at the instruments with the teachers. There is singing & movement as well, nurssery rhymes & classical music, fun movements to develop musical skills that will help with instrument playing later. There are many books about/by Shinichi Suzuki if you wish to learn more. I hope this answer was helpful!"
