Secret Of Newborn’s First Words Revealed
May 4, 2008 — Alenka | Posted in Teach Your Child. 3 Comments »A new study has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences online Early Edition: it investigates which word patterns triggers more brain activity in infants.
A new study could explain why “daddy” and “mommy” are often a baby’s first words – the human brain may be hard-wired to recognize certain repetition patterns.
It has been found, that words that have consequent repetitions – such as baba, or nana, or tata, or dada elicit stronger brain activity in infants, then words without any repetitions: random syllable combinations, or real words, both didn’ t trigger such a strong response in the brain.
They found increased brain activities in the temporal and left frontal areas of the newborns’ brain whenever the repetitious words were played. Words with non-adjacent repetitions (“bamuba” or “napena”) elicited no distinctive responses from the brain.
That would explain why such words as “mama” and “dada”, “tata” (grandpa in Italian) and “baba” (grandma in Russian) become baby’s first “words” in most of the languages.

That’s true, but my very favorite is still “What Babies Say Before They Can Talk : The Nine Signals Infants Use to Express Their Feelings” by Paul Holinger, Kalia Doner.
I think this book helps the parents to understand and respond better to their babies… as well as to their toddlers, preschoolers, teenagers… and even spouses and friends! I found this book incredibly revealing and at this moment rereading it again to freshen up my memories.

Actually children r comming to us to teach us many things in this way because we r learning many many new things only because of them and this site is really fantastic and i advise all the pregnant women to visit this site and start talking to the babies inside the womb so that babies start learning from the womb itself.
