I Live on the Planet Earth – Fun Geography Necklace

Planet EarthThis song turned out to be so much fun, that we sing it even after we were done with our unit in Geography.
“I live on Planet Earth” song to the He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands“. We tried singing it with props: I printed pictures of earth, USA map, our State, our state with it’s city on marked, picture of our house.

I punched wholes in all pictures and at every verse we’d string another picture on the “necklace” and sing it wearing the “necklace”. This fantastic idea comes from here: My Montessori Journey – Geography
Materials and song are available here: I live on Planet Earth file.

How we played with it? We were making a geographical necklace as we were singing. Every time we would sing a line, we would add the appropriate picture to the string, so at the end my four year old Sunshine had a whole Geographical Necklace to wear! And, obviously, sing the whole song at least a dozen more times while dancing in his necklace…

I live on Planet Earth – Planet Earth! (repeat 2 more times)
I live on the Planet Earth!
…I live on continent North America – in North America!
I live on the continent North America!
…My country is the United States – Of America!
I live in the USA!
… I live in the state of…
…I live in the city/town…
…I live on …street…
